Lewis G. Logan

Parents, Hezekiah and Abigal Gunn Logan.

Enlisted May 23, 1861, in company I, 1st Regiment, Connecticut Heavy Artillery

Mustered into service a Corporal.

Promoted to Sergeant October 15, ’61, 1st Sergeant November 1, ’61, 2nd Lieutenant Company B, March 24, ’62, 1st Lieutenant Company E, February 27, ’63.

Discharged October 22, ’64.

A noble and deserving record of honorable service.  After discharge made his home in Bridgeport, Conn.

Lewis Logan was one of two other soldiers who joined the 1st Connecticut Heavy Artillery (although when it was mustered it was the 4th Connecticut Infantry) with Charley Goodyear.  The other soldier was Henry Howe  He is also a nephew of F.W. Gunn.  It is not clear from any information that we have found that would indicate him being related to the Logan family whom Charley worked for as a farm boy during his youth.  On the other hand, the Logans and Gunn were related, so Lewis could have been related to the Logans of the Logan farm.
